چکیده
In this study, we perform a theoretical study of light propagation properties in two-dimensional square photonic crystals (PCs) following Bravais–Moiré (BM) patterns composed copper oxide high-temperature superconductors (HTSCs). The BM PCs are made cylindrical cores formed from the combination two Bravais lattices. Moiré pattern forms due to commensurable rotation one these lattices with respect other. dielectric function superconducting material is modeled by two-fluid Gorter–Casimir theory. We report on corresponding gap, mapping as radius cores, well dispersion relations TM modes for and waveguide system built defect lines within such crystal. were HTSCs, which exhibit large tunability terms temperature.

Larger Two-Dimensional Photonic Band Gaps.
Absolute photonic band gaps in two-dimensional square and honeycomb lattices of circular crosssection rods can be increased by reducing the structure symmetry. The addition of a smaller diameter rod into the center of each lattice unit cell lifts band degeneracies to create significantly larger band gaps. Symmetry breaking is most effective at filling fractions near those which produce absolute...
متن کاملEmulation of two-dimensional photonic crystal defect modes in a photonic crystal with a three-dimensional photonic band gap
Using numerical simulations, we demonstrate the construction of two-dimensional~2D-! like defect modes in a recently proposed 3D photonic crystal structure. These modes, which are confined in all three dimensions by a complete photonic band gap, bear a striking similarity to those in 2D photonic crystals in terms of polarization, field profile, and projected band structures. It is expected that...
متن کاملGlobal Photonic Band Gaps in Two-Dimensional Metallic Lattices
The fundamental and higher frequency global photonic band gaps are obtained for transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) modes in photonic band gap (PBG) structures consisting of two-dimensional (2D) square and triangular lattices of perfectly conducting cylinders. The global photonic band gaps in metallic lattice, which are found to differ qualitatively as well as quantitatively f...
متن کاملPhotonic band gaps and localization in two-dimensional metallic quasicrystals
– We report on experimental observation of photonic stop bands in two-dimensional metallic Penrose lattice. We investigated the defect characteristics, and observed strongly localized cavity modes below the plasma frequency. The absence of the translational symmetry allowed to change the defect frequencies and localization properties of the defect modes. Propagation of photons along highly loca...
متن کاملMaximizing Band Gaps in Two-Dimensional Photonic Crystals
This paper is devoted to a numerical algorithm for the maximization of band gaps in two-dimensional photonic crystals in square lattices. We first apply the finite element method to solve the eigenvalue problem, then use the piecewise constant level set (PCLS) method to maximize the band gaps. The PCLS method is very powerful for representing and modeling regions of different structures. Extrem...
